The women of Areosa also dedicated themselves to agricultural and marine activities on the coastal strip of this parish. As in Afife and Carreço, these women did not have a specific costume for the tasks at sea, so they used the week’s clothes. These costumes consisted of a striped skirt, a striped apron tied with a rope, a Chita blouse (traditional Portuguese cotton fabric) and a straw hat.
