Seaweed Stacks
After harvesting the seaweed, and when it was dry, this natural fertilizer was stored in stacks. Although in the past, the seaweed stacks were distributed along almost all of the region’s coast, nowadays, they can only be found in the parish of Castelo do Neiva. As to their structure, and as described by Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira, Fernando Galhano and Benjamin Pereira (1975), there were two types of seaweed stacks, those of Castelo do Neiva and those of Afife and Carreço.
